Below, we’ll break down the experience and credentials needed to obtain PMP certification. The time it takes to get PMP certification depends on where you are in your career. This title can help you advance your career. Once you pass the PMP exam, you are considered a PMP. PMP certification requires work experience, training courses and the successful completion of an exam. The PMP certification process teaches you about popular project management methods like Agile and waterfall scheduling, among other industry best practices. Classes within the certificate are offered twice annually, so makeup dates can be reasonably scheduled.PMP certification is a widely recognized credential that distinguishes you from your peers in the field. The certificate’s classes are not transferable to for-credit courses at UW–Madison or other UW for-credit programs.īecause certificate classes are only two days each, missed days must be made up. Any request for exceptions to this or other related policies must be made directly to the PM certificate program director. Any exceptions will be referred to the program director in charge of the PM certificate. All leaners will be given support and options so that they can receive the certificate. The focus is on concepts, not memorizing jargon and terms. During this discussion with the mentor, learners can review a project plan, engage in a case study or respond to a series of questions that are easily answered if the learner was attentive during the three required classes. Mentors assigned to each individual learner will engage in up to three hours of private conversation on Zoom. The review is not a formal test, and there are no grades.
